Chasing Away the Sunday Woe

I don't know about anyone else, but when Sunday rolls around I seem to be overcome with a melancholic wistfulness, a mourning -if you will- of the weekend. Which is odd because I love my job and Monday's aren't THAT horrible. Nonetheless this feeling tries to follow me around all Sunday, like an annoying fly, you think it's gone but it swiftly buzzes right back.

Perhaps it is engrained me since grade school days, when the weekends really were the only escape and Mondays were epically shitty. I don't miss those days. I don't miss them at all. Gone they may be, but the Sunday woe seems to have stuck around.
Here are some things I find that help and that I've started to do to make Sunday less of a drag...

Benji Photo Shoot

I want to make it a goal to post a photo shoot every week. I like this because it gives me a chance to share more and also inspires me to break out the camera and practice. I've been playing around with camera's for years and I still learn something new every time.

This week I am sharing some photos I took of my friend Benjamin. Ironically, he's a tad camera shy, but photographs very well. I love the way they turned out!

Starting the Design Process

I put a lot of thought into what my first real post should be, and I couldn’t decide on anything. There are four untitled drafts in my que, but none that really go anywhere. Then it hit me…I want to focus on interior design and creating a unique and beautiful lifestyle, so I should start at the beginning.  Duh.

Today I am going to answer a question I get asked a lot. Question: Where do you start when designing a space and how do you know when you are done?

When I was first asked this question I didn’t have an answer, nor did I feel remotely qualified to answer it. It’s an overwhelming thought – WHERE TO START?

Chance Photo Shoot

I consider myself very lucky to have friends that let me drag them around town and pose for pictures. It was a beautiful day and Chance and I couldn't resist taking advantage of it! As we walked around downtown, we'd occasionally stop for a photo op. These are my favorites from the day.

New Beginnings

Welcome to my super cool, super awesome new blog. I'm glad you're here! Take your shoes off, kick up your feet, smoke some herb - you deserve it - and stay awhile.
My name is Colby and I'm an aspiring interior designer / college dropout, and my goal with this blog is to share my journey with you. After a harrowing couple of years making the best of a shitty studio apartment, I have moved into my very first "grown up" downtown apartment (I call it grown up because it has a guest bedroom and bathroom, whaaaat?!). So, now I am in the process of turning this new place into the best damn apartment ever - a subject you can expect to see on the blog often.
I am also looking forward to sharing my photographic adventures with you! I hesitate to call myself a photographer, buuuut I do take pictures  and sometimes (not very often) people do buy them. Though, if I am being honest, my grandmother is my biggest patron, which is interesting considering most of my subject matter consists of dudes in some sort or homo-erotic manner. My grandmother is awesome.

This will also be a place where I can further engage with my followers and address the many questions I get.
I am not new to blogging, my last blog grew out of my hands and I no longer felt like it was me. Now here I am, starting fresh with no preconceived expectations. Long story short, I am going to be doing this my way and posting whatever I feel like.

So, I invite you to join me on this journey. It's undoubtedly going to full of firsts, cool photos, good design and ideas, and perhaps an occasional rant. Sound good?
